Soccer Recap: Matoaca Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Matoaca's offense. They lost 4-0 to the Mechanicsville Mustangs on Monday. While losing is never fun, Matoaca can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Mechanicsville are ranked 91st).

Matoaca's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-2. As for Mechanicsville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2-1.

Matoaca wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Thomas Dale on the 15th. As for Mechanicsville, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-0 loss against Atlee on the 16th.
