Volleyball Recap: Elk River Comes Up Short

Elk River lost against Maple Grove back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elks fell 3-1 to the Crimson.

The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 27-29, 25-15.

Siri Maciej paced Elk River's offense, picking up 16 kills. Maciej got some help from Makenna Glaser and her 24 assists. Glaser and Maciej didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Leading Maple Grove to victory were Tess Schuler and Olivia Morris. Schuler had nine digs and two aces, while Morris had 17 assists. Those 17 assists gave Morris a new career-high. Amanda Swiers also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Elk River's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Maple Grove, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3.

Coming up, Elk River will head out to square off against Sauk Rapids-Rice at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maple Grove, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Centennial on the 8th.
