Baseball Game Preview: Whittier Cardinals vs. Glenn Eagles

The Whittier Cardinals will face off against the Glenn Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Whittier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Whittier's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Calvary Chapel 17-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Whittier let Andrew Ruvalcaba and Carl Collins run wild. Ruvalcaba scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Collins scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Collins a new career-high in runs. Derrick Monreal was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Glenn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against St. Anthony, falling 17-2.

Glenn saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bert Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Josiah Alcala also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.

Whittier now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Glenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Whittier took their victory against Glenn in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-5. Does Whittier have another victory up their sleeve, or will Glenn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
