Baseball Recap: Merced's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Merced hadn't done well against Buhach Colony recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears put the hurt on the Thunder with a sharp 13-3 win. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Thunder on Wednesday, they had to take a 14-3 defeat.

Merced let Dylan Speidel and Conner Vitelli run wild. Speidel went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Vitelli got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Speidel has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Julian Solorio, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Merced hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

With the victory, Merced broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-14. As for Buhach Colony, they moved to 6-14-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Merced will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on San Luis Obispo at 6:00 p.m. on the 25th. As for Buhach Colony, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 4-0 defeat against Hughson on the 22nd.
