Basketball Recap: Canton Beats New Hope for Their 13th Straight Victory

Canton had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over the New Hope Trojans on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on 13 straight.

Canton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shamira Morton, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. Morton is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dekendra Mitchell, who went 5-for-6 on her way to 15 points and three steals.

Canton's win bumped their record up to 25-5. As for New Hope, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-6.
