Preview: Gunnison Cowboys vs. Meeker Cowboys

Gunnison is 0-3 against Meeker since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gunnison Cowboys will be playing at home against the Meeker Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gunnison's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They skirted past North Fork 39-36. The win was just what Gunnison needed coming off of a 71-35 defeat in their prior match.

Meanwhile, Meeker came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 55-49 victory over Grand Valley. Given Meeker's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Grand Valley is ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meeker's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Sullivan, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Jace Mobley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Gunnison's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. As for Meeker, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Gunnison might still be hurting after the 60-40 defeat they got from Meeker in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Gunnison have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
