Baseball Recap: Izard County Comes Up Short

Izard County lost against Cave City back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars fell just short of the Cavemen by a score of 8-7. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Izard County saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Portor Burton, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Burton's first of the season.

Izard County's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Cave City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Izard County will challenge Sloan-Hendrix at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Cave City, they will square off against Salem at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Greyhounds will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cavemen surely won't give up without a fight.
