Recap: Bristol Warriors vs. New Hope Academy

The Bristol Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their fifth straight loss. The contest between Bristol and New Hope Academy wasn't particularly close, with Bristol falling 82-68. While losing is never fun, Bristol can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 481st in Pennsylvania, while New Hope Academy is ranked 104th in Maryland).

New Hope Academy was led to victory by DJ Thomas and Jalen Martinez. Thomas dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Martinez scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haki Muhammad, who scored 19 points.

Bristol now has a losing record at 6-7. As for New Hope Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bristol will take on MAST Community Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. MAST Community Charter is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for New Hope Academy, New Hope Academy and Fairfax Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fairfax Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully New Hope Academy likes a good challenge.
