Washington hasn't had much luck against Heritage Hills recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hatchets will host the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Washington is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 42-6 win over Pike Central. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Hatchets considering their nine-point performance the matchup before.

Washington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Isza out in front who rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, and also picked up 44 receiving yards and one TD. That's the most receiving yards Isza has posted since back in October of 2024. Cooper Wright was another key player, rushing for 26 yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Washington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Another reason for the win was Washington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Jordan Emmick refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself. Washington got some further help from Emmick: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 14 total tackles (1.5 for loss).
Meanwhile, Heritage Hills entered their tilt with Boonville on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 37-12 margin over the Pioneers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Patriots' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Pioneers are ranked 131st).
Heritage Hills' win came from a few key players Washington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Karsen Pund, who rushed for 74 yards and one TD on only seven carries. Heritage Hills also got help from Tyler Ruxer, who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Heritage Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Peyton Gray and Micah Toler. Tyler Raven was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks and making seven total tackles.
Heritage Hills' win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Washington was taken down by Heritage Hills 49-7 when the teams last played back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Patriots' Tyce Winchell, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. Now that the Hatchets know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
