Volleyball Recap: Saxony Lutheran Takes a Loss

Saxony Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Pius X Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in April.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: St. Pius X scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-18.

Despite the defeat, Saxony Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: freshman Samuel Petzoldt had 17 digs and 17 assists.

Saxony Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for St. Pius X, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Saxony Lutheran will take on Seckman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Pius X does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
