Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Como Park

Como Park came out on top against Harding on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Knights. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Mitchell Pelzer made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Pelzer was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Como Park's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Vance Ethen was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Joseph Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win (which was Como Park's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Harding, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Coming up, Como Park will be playing in front of their home fans against Fridley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Harding, they are taking a road trip to square off against Johnson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
