Softball Game Preview: Millis Mohawks vs. Norwood Mustangs

Millis has gone a perfect 5-0 against Norwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mohawks will challenge the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Norwood took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Millis, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Millis needed a bit of extra time to put away Dedham. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Marauders 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mohawks have posted since March 22nd.

Mia Vasta spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Millis saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macy Ingraham, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. Isabella Briones also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Norwood lost 10-3 to Norton on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Millis now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Norwood, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Millis skirted past Norwood 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mohawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
