Softball Game Preview: Reading Blue Devils vs. Mercy McAuley Wolves

The Reading Blue Devils will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Mercy McAuley Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Reading is headed out to face Mercy McAuley after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Reading came out on top against Cincinnati Christian by a score of 11-6 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Mercy McAuley got the win against Archbishop McNicholas on Monday by a conclusive 14-4.

Sophia Ward made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Callie Elmer was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Olivia Olding, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Mercy McAuley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Archbishop McNicholas only posted an OBP of .429.
