Basketball Recap: Excelsior Charter Eagles vs. Katella Knights
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Excelsior Charter can now relate to. They took a 76-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Katella Knights on Wednesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (58), the Eagles still had to take the loss.
Katella's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Damian led the charge by going 9-for-19 en route to 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. What's more, Damian also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024. Dillon Curtis was another key player, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards.
Excelsior Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Katella, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Excelsior Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Katella, they will face off against Perris at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Katella is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
