Basketball Game Preview: Nelson County Governors vs. Appomattox County Raiders

The Nelson County Governors will head out on the road to challenge the Appomattox County Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Nelson County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.

On Friday, Nelson County got the win against Altavista by a conclusive 78-58. Given the Governors' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Colonels are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Appomattox County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Chatham with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 54-40.

Nelson County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points over those games. As for Appomattox County, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Nelson County strolled past Appomattox County in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a score of 69-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nelson County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
