Basketball Recap: Digital Pioneers Academy Takes a Loss

Digital Pioneers Academy entered their game against DC International on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Digital Pioneers Academy Pythons fell 53-42 to the DC International Dragons. The Pythons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dragons earlier this season, when they won 54-35.

When it comes to explaining why Digital Pioneers Academy lost, don't look at Imran Buttt. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points and seven boards. Buttt is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Borders, who posted seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DC International to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kai Hegwood, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. DC International is 3-1 when Hegwood posts ten or more boards, but 10-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Moore, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Digital Pioneers Academy's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 14-7. As for DC International, the win got them back to even at 13-13.

Digital Pioneers Academy has already played their next matchup, a 59-50 victory against Washington Latin Public Charter School on the 4th. As for DC International, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Woodson on the 3rd.
