Basketball Game Preview: Sonora Wildcats vs. Ripon Christian Knights

The Sonora Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Ripon Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sonora is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Last Tuesday, Sonora slipped by Ripon 42-41.

Sonora's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quentin Solis, who posted 16 points. Solis continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Wright, who earned nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Sonora smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ripon Christian took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 74-31 victory over Orestimba. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 25 points or more this season.

Ripon Christian is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.1 points. As for Sonora, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6.

Sonora came up short against Ripon Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 51-44. Can Sonora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
