Baseball Recap: Madison County Has No Trouble Against Aucilla Christian

Madison County won the last time they faced Aucilla Christian and things went their way on Friday too. Madison County was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Aucilla Christian. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.

Dalton McNutt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other pitching news, Mar'Kevian Stephens looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Madison County is 4-2 when Stephens allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Micah Newman, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Madison County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Alden Richie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Madison County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Madison County now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Aucilla Christian, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-7.

Aucilla Christian is facing Hamilton County at the right time seeing as Hamilton County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
