Baseball Game Preview: Auburn Mountainview Lions vs. Kentlake Falcons

Auburn Mountainview hasn't had much luck against Kentlake recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lions will square off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m.

On Monday, Auburn Mountainview didn't have quite enough to beat Decatur and fell 4-3. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brennan Grames made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Kentlake came tearing into Monday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Royals. Give the Falcons' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Matthew Lawrence was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Christopher Moore was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Kentlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Kentlake pushed their record up to 11-5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Auburn Mountainview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Auburn Mountainview couldn't quite get it done against Kentlake in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
