Basketball Game Preview: California City Ravens vs. Mammoth Huskies

The California City Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Mammoth Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. California City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

California City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Frazier Mountain 60-10. The win was some much needed relief for the Ravens as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

California City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elaysha Isreal, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. California City is 2-1 when Isreal posts three or more steals, but 1-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Castillo, who went 9 of 17 en route to 18 points along with five boards and four steals.

California City was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday's Canine Competition, Mammoth had to take the L. They came up short against Coleville on Wednesday, falling 38-18. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Mammoth's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for California City, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-9.

California City and Mammoth were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but California City came up empty-handed after a 33-32 defeat. Can California City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
