Baseball Recap: Springfield Southeast Takes a Loss

Springfield Southeast came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lincoln Railsplitters by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Railsplitters: they've now lost five in a row.

Toby Basden made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was L Daberkow, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Springfield Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Lincoln, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5.

Coming up, Springfield Southeast will welcome PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln, they will head out on the road to square off against Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Railsplitters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crimsons have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
