Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Case

Case had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Seekonk Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-5 two weeks ago.

Cailyn Durand made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Case got a big performance out of Meghan Pereira, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was Pereira's first of the season. Breanna Fontes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Case kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.

Case's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Seekonk, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Case is set to face off against their familiar foe Apponequet Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 2, the Lakers 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Seekonk will challenge rival Somerset Berkley Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
