Basketball Recap: Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Comes Up Short

If Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory was feeling good fresh off their 54-33 takedown of Park Tudor last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles on Friday. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory lost, don't look at Robyn Pate. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Miller, who had seven points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guerin Catholic only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Guerin Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Bills out in front who went 6 of 11 on her way to 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bills has scored at least a third of Guerin Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Caroline Ford, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Guerin Catholic, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-9 record.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has already played their next matchup, a 60-21 win against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial on the 28th. As for Guerin Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-33 defeat against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 31st.
