Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Centauri blew Alamosa out of the water with a 63-32 final score. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.
Centauri's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Troy Sowards, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 14 points. Carson Bagwell was another key player, shooting 67% from the field on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.
Centauri was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alamosa only eight assists.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Platte Valley and Fort Morgan, and Platte Valley kept the tradition alive. Platte Valley took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 63-35 victory over Fort Morgan. The Broncos have beaten the Mustangs the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Centauri better keep an eye on Talyn Short. He was instrumental in Platte Valley's win, going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points. Short is becoming a predictor of Platte Valley's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is undefeated (and 4-16 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Minner, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.
Platte Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Centauri, they pushed their record up to 23-0 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Centauri has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Platte Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24 boards.
