Basketball Game Preview: Chapin Eagles vs. Lexington Wildcats

Chapin is 1-9 against Lexington since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chapin Eagles will welcome the Lexington Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Chapin is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Dutch Fork, falling 68-47. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-25.

Meanwhile, Lexington ended up a good deal behind Irmo on Saturday and lost 60-44. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 47th).

Lexington has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Chapin, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Chapin suffered a grim 72-51 defeat to Lexington in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Chapin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
