The Forreston Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Durand Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Durand took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Forreston, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with 15 defeats in a row, Forreston turned things around against Hiawatha on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 19-4 victory. Considering the Cardinals' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Emma Hundertmark made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Kylie Dieterman looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Forreston got a massive performance out of Nevaeh Scheffner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Scheffner has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Caroline Bawinkel, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs.
Forreston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Durand's offense. They fell just short of Orangeville by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Forreston's record is now 3-15. As for Durand, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Forreston suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Durand in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
