Volleyball Preview: Leland Panthers vs. DePue Little Giants
Leland is 5-0 against DePue since August of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. Leland is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Leland didn't have quite enough to beat Earlville and fell 2-1.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Leland sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 21-25, 25-17.
Meanwhile, DePue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Illinois Math & Science Academy.
The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14.
Leland's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for DePue, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
Leland was able to grind out a solid victory over DePue in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
