Softball Recap: Torrington Wins Going Away Against Ansonia

Torrington barely beat Ansonia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 25-11 victory on Monday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Sophia Pergola made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with six runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lilah Boulli was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Julia Rinaldi was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Torrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Torrington's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Ansonia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
