Volleyball Recap: New Hanover Falls Short of South Central in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact New Hanover can now relate to. They came up short against the South Central Falcons on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured 12 losses in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-9, 25-14.

New Hanover's offense was headlined by Maille Smith and Maddie Sawyer, who picked up four kills apiece. Smith really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with eight.

Gabby Mattison was a one-woman wrecking crew For South Central. as she had seven digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Mattison a new career-high.

New Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for South Central, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

New Hanover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Central, they will challenge Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
