Basketball Recap: Avon Park Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Avon Park entered their tilt with Haines City on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Hornets 68-66. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Devils also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Avon Park's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Kelly, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. Kelly is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tayvion Jones, who posted 19 points and five rebounds.

Avon Park now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Haines City, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Park will welcome Discovery at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Haines City, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hope Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets will need to watch out since the Trojan have now posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
