Recap: Northside - Pinetown Panthers vs. Southside Seahawks
The Northside - Pinetown Panthers stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-24 victory over Southside on the road. Northside - Pinetown's victory was all the more impressive since Southside was averaging only 25 points allowed on the season.
It was another big night for Oliviajane Cahoon, who scored 21 points along with six steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mariah Jones, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Southside's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was I'Kiriyah Minor, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliah Moore, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Northside - Pinetown's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Southside, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside - Pinetown will take on Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jones is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Southside, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome East Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. East Carteret presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southside in North Carolina (East Carteret is ranked 100th, while Southside is ranked 345th).
