Football Recap: Grantsville Takes a Loss

If Grantsville was riding high fresh off their 42-7 takedown of Ogden last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cowboys took a 24-10 bruising from the Morgan Trojans on Friday. The Cowboys were red-hot offensively heading into the matchup (they scored no less than 31 points in the three games prior), but the Trojans' defense proved too tough.

Dallan Van Vliet threw for 30 yards on six of 23 attempts. On the ground, Rigdon Murdock rushed for 57 yards.

Morgan was led to victory by George Thurston and Kanyon Leonelli. Thurston gained 124 total yards and two touchdowns, while Leonelli rushed for 81 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Thurston a new career-high in receiving yards (94).

Grantsville's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Morgan, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Grantsville has already played their next contest (against Logan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Morgan also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Ogden.
