Basketball Recap: Mescalero Apache Takes a Loss

Mescalero Apache was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 81-58 to the Lordsburg Mavericks. The Chiefs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Zeke De La O continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lordsburg, almost dropping a double-double on 37 points and nine rebounds. The match was De La O's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Salazar, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

Mescalero Apache's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Lordsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Mesilla Valley Christian School the next time they take the court. Mescalero Apache will host Mesilla Valley Christian School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lordsburg will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
