Football Game Preview: Port Charlotte Pirates vs. Dunbar Tigers + Official Tickets

The Port Charlotte Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Dunbar Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Port Charlotte's win against South Fort Myers wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Pirates made off with a 29-28 victory over the Wolfpack. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won five in a row.

Logan Flaherty was his usual excellent self, throwing for 274 yards and one TD, while also rushing for 47 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Dunbar narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lehigh 21-19.

Port Charlotte's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Dunbar, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Port Charlotte against Dunbar in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 39-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
