Softball Recap: Orthopaedic Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Orthopaedic won the last time they faced Central City Value and things went their way on Monday too. The Vipers blew past the Jaguars 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Vipers, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Alexa Becerra made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

In other batting news, Melanie Garcia and Elizabeth Ajin did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ajin scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Those four RBI gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniela Ceja, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Orthopaedic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central City Value only posted an OBP of .250.

Orthopaedic's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Central City Value, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 2-2.

Orthopaedic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-9 loss against USC-MAE on the 10th. As for Central City Value, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rise Kohyang at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
