Basketball Recap: Desert Hills Skates Past Elko with Ease

Desert Hills won the last time they faced Elko and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Desert Hills Thunder took their contest with ease, bagging a 65-35 victory over the Elko Indians.

Desert Hills can attribute much of their success to Mason Rasmussen, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points. That's the most points Rasmussen has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Openshaw, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Desert Hills has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Elko, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Desert Hills will look to defend their home court on Friday against Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. Desert Hills is facing Snow Canyon at the right time seeing as Snow Canyon is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Elko, they will welcome Churchill County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
