Softball Game Preview: Forest Grove Vikings vs. Newberg Tigers

The Forest Grove Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Newberg Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Forest Grove nor Newberg posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Forest Grove managed to slip by McMinnville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Vikings lost 6-0 to the Grizzlies on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 10, 2024.

Meanwhile, Newberg fell victim to Glencoe and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Crimson Tide, falling 10-0.

Newberg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Spry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Newberg's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Forest Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Forest Grove beat Newberg 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
