Basketball Recap: Marquette Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

On Thursday, the Marquette Defenders earned a 67-55 win over the Wapsie Valley Warriors. Given the Defenders' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Warriors are ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Marquette and bumps their season record up to 22-1. As for Wapsie Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Marquette nor Wapsie Valley have any future games scheduled.
