Volleyball Recap: Dorman Falls Short Against Ranked Nation Ford

Dorman faced Nation Ford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cavaliers fell 2-0 to the Falcons. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Dorman was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-18.

Reese Shugart paced Dorman's offense, picking up eight kills. Shugart got some help from Ramsey Larke Chastain and her ten assists. Finally, Meg Rousseau kept Dorman's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Dorman's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Nation Ford, they pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Dorman will challenge James F. Byrnes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Nation Ford, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Wando on the 27th.
