Volleyball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Taft Raiders. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Raiders when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Holmes was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-12.

Theresa Carvalho paced Holmes' offense, picking up six kills. Carvalho got some help from Mikayla Rangel and her eight assists. Finally, Carvalho was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Taft, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Holmes will head out on the road to face off against Zapata at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Taft, they will challenge Bastrop at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
