Softball Recap: Mountain Home Takes a Loss

Mountain Home had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-9 to make it five. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jerome. Mountain Home was not able to make up for their loss to Jerome from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Mountain Home saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Cotton, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Cotton has snagged this season.

As for Jerome, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games.

On Jerome's side, Briaunna Robbinette spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits. Robbinette has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Allen and Sawyer Gararad did most of the damage at the plate: Allen got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Gararad went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Abigayl Hinton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jerome beat Mountain Home by a score of 13-12 later that day.
