Softball Recap: Castle Comes Up Short

Castle fell victim to Brownsburg and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Bailey Gravens was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Castle and nudges their season record down to 6-10. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Brownsburg, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Coming up, Castle will square off against Evansville Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brownsburg has already played their next match (against Carmel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
