Basketball Recap: Tahji Vinson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Elizabeth

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against The Classical Academy, Sand Creek was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Elizabeth Cardinals 49-33. This was a revenge game for the Scorpions: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in January, they had to take a 50-33 defeat.

Sand Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tahji Vinson led the charge by going 7-for-15 to rack up 18 points. Vinson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cynthia Reyes, who posted 12 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Sand Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Sand Creek's record is now 7-15. As for Elizabeth, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sand Creek will head out to challenge Cheyenne Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on February 21st. As for Elizabeth, they will venture away from home to take on Sierra at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
