Softball Game Preview: Escalon Cougars vs. Sonora Wildcats

The Escalon Cougars will take on the Sonora Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Escalon and six for Sonora.

Orestimba hit Escalon with a five-run second inning last Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars lost 14-8 to the Warriors.

Jayci Trimble was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kaylynn McCutcheon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Sonora took on Golden Valley on Wednesday. The Wildcats took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.

Sonora's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Escalon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Escalon was able to grind out a solid win over Sonora in their previous meeting back in March, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
