Softball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Has No Trouble Against L.W. Higgins

Thomas Jefferson barely beat L.W. Higgins the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Thomas Jefferson was the clear victor by a 23-4 margin over L.W. Higgins on Wednesday. That 19 run margin sets a new team best for Thomas Jefferson this season.

Kamberr Lombas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lombas was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Cuccia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, four runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Baldwin, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Thomas Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Thomas Jefferson's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for L.W. Higgins, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Thomas Jefferson will be playing in front of their home fans against New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for L.W. Higgins, they will square off against East Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
