Basketball Recap: Glendale Sets Scoring Season-High Against Curwensville

Glendale scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Curwensville Golden Tide by a score of 64-62. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Golden Tide: they've now lost four in a row.

Glendale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Those 15 points gave Hamilton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen McGarvey, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Davis Fleming was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 44 points and ten rebounds for Curwensville. Fleming's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler English, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 boards and nine assists.

Glendale's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-4. As for Curwensville, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Glendale and Cambria Heights will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Curwensville, they will head out to face off against Clearfield at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Curwensville is facing Clearfield at the right time seeing as Clearfield is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
