California high school baseball: Joseph Jasso of South East tops state strikeouts leaderboard

Senior has a 1.33 ERA over 68.1 innings.

Joseph Jasso of South East (South Gate) leads California high school baseball this spring with 123 strikeouts over 68.1 innings. The senior has recorded double-digit strikeouts six times, including a high of 15 twice. Over his last 25 innings, Jasso has allowed two earned runs for the Jaguars.

Blake Moore of California City is second in the state with 120 innings over 66.1 innings of work. The sophomore has a 1.37 ERA on the season and has picked up six wins for the Ravens. On April 28 Moore threw a complete game where he allowed zero earned runs, striking out 10. With the bat he got two doubles and a pair of RBI.

Freshman Nicholas Chavez of Palm Valley (Rancho Mirage) is third in the state with 108 strikeouts. Chavez averages 2.4 strikeouts per inning for the Firebirds. Also stellar with the bat in his hands, the freshman is hitting .635 with four home runs.
