Basketball Recap: Sutherland Takes a Loss

Sutherland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 43-24 to the Cambridge Trojans. The Sailors were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Mallory Springer was nothing short of spectacular for Cambridge: she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Springer continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisabeth Kubik, who posted six points and 12 boards.

Sutherland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Cambridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Sutherland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-34 loss against Hitchcock County on the 18th. Cambridge has also already played their next matchup, a 46-39 win against Maxwell on the 18th.
