Volleyball Recap: University Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with John Marshall

University faced John Marshall in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 3-2. The Hawks have struggled against the Monarchs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

University took John Marshall into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-15, 27-29, 18-25, 15-9.

Maggie Panson paced University's offense, picking up 15 kills. Panson got some help from Alexis Oravec and her 27 assists. Oravec was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 20-8-2. As for John Marshall, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5-3.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Steubenville on the 9th. As for John Marshall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Morgantown on the 11th.
