Preview: Central Tigers vs. Cabot Panthers
Central is 9-1 against Cabot since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Central Tigers are on the road again and plays the Cabot Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Central and Bryant (ranked 78 and 75 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile game. Central fell just short of Bryant by a score of 52-50. The contest was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but Central couldn't quite close it out.
Meanwhile, Cabot suffered their closest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Bryant by a score of 51-48. While losing is never fun, Cabot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Bryant is ranked first).
Central's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-5. As for Cabot, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.
Central strolled past Cabot in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 61-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
